Lucky to Be Irish!

Two of my five children have red hair.  The question is always asked, "Are you Irish?"  I smile and reply, "Yes!"  My mother's side of the family is Irish.  I was raised with the understanding that to be Irish was something to be proud of.  Her family is fiercely loyal and loving!  They are a force to be reckoned with.  They can drink beer and appreciate the good stuff!  They are witty and sarcastic, passionate and vivacious!  Even when my grandmother passed away, there was singing and clanking of glasses...a true Irish … [Read more...]

Peanut Butter Cookie Days

There is nothing more basic than a peanut butter cookie.  It's a cookie I hadn't made in ages.  Earlier this week I was craving a good ole' peanut butter cookie brown, crispy, and fork-printed.  A cookie that fit the mood.  A cookie that fit the weather.  You see there hasn't been much light around here lately...so maybe basic was a good way to go....or not. It's hard to wake up and get inspired looking at this.  And this doesn't exactly make you want to burst out with creativity either. Seriously?  I live in this … [Read more...]

Welcome to Fancy Friday! This a day where we post things that strike our fancy! Pretty things...things we covet.  I saw a couple of those things at Bloggy Boot Camp this week.  Like this Fancy Friday worthy frock!  Mama Trisha rocked this outfit and stood out in the crowd!  But, it wasn't just her frock that was Fancy Friday worthy, she's the real deal and will totally make you laugh!  Check her out at Desperately Seeking Silence. This other mama...let me pause here to say that Mom's are Fancy, especially when given the … [Read more...]

Africa Dreams

Africa on the brain.  I've got it bad.  It seems to be the topic of conversation swirling around me this week.  First, I just want to say welcome back to those bloggers who went to Kenya with Compassion International.  I'm pretty sure they landed today!  I know today they will land in their respective airports and feel like they stepped into another world.  The first thing they'll immediately realize is how clean everything is.  Then they'll feel lost in the immensity of how large the airport is!  They will be so happy to see … [Read more...]

Ace of Cakes-Baltimore!

This morning, I was reading some posts from some of the gals that came to Baltimore for Bloggy Boot Camp.  The conference was a blast, but I know for those of you who came from out of town, you didn't get a chance to see much of our city!  So, I thought it would be fun to have another Ace of Cakes GiftAway!  We want to GiftAway the book, Ace of Cakes: Inside the World of Charm City Cakes!  Duff Goldman and his crew, call Baltimore home! Baltimore is the perfect city for Ace of Cakes!  It's quirky, full of personality and … [Read more...]

Bloggy Bootcamp in Baltimore

This past weekend, a few sistahs, rolled into my hood!  Honestly, I didn't even see them coming!  But, these sistahs look out for one another and I happened to have met one of them through my toddler's play group.  Cara from Land of Bean, who happened to take home #1 for best family blog in the Mobbie's Awards last year, (just tootin' her horn for her!) was kind enough to let me know about the Bloggy Bootcamp coming to Baltimore!  Bloggy Bootcamp was hosted by one of the SITSgirls!  And can I just pause and say here, that … [Read more...]

LoveFeast Birthday Celebration (yes, it continues!)

Yes, I have to admit here, that I did indeed, celebrate my birthday for two weeks!  But, please, don't see me as indulgent, just doing what a girl needs to do to survive!  You see, Chris Ann and I have been joking that we have somehow switched places this winter.  Usually, in February, Chris Ann is in full hibernation mode.  Between the cold, snow and husband traveling, the winter blues catch up with her! Every year, my perky self, calls to make sure she hasn't totally holed herself in.  I send her funny books and even recommend … [Read more...]

Double Delicious Bars Recipe

I'm just so sorry I didn't share.  Really. Had I known you were craving something buttery, chocolaty and warm...I would have invited you right over. Since I got this recipe from an old church cook book, I'm fairly sure my sharing side would have kicked in. Yes, I'm pretty sure I would have shared. But you could whip up a batch real quick. They are Double Delicious Bars, shared by Mildred Morken many years ago in the Trinity Lutheran Church cookbook.  They are also seen at Bake or Break and most … [Read more...]
