Dress For The Day ~ Holiday Shopping

This is one of my favorite looks for going out and about.  And easy comfortable jersey dress on top of skinny jeans.  I could have worn tights but, they are what I reached for first and I liked how they dressed down the outfit.  Glittery gray infinity scarf.  Cozy.  And my fake furry vest which is turning out to be one of my favorite things. And, pearls from LoveFeast Shop strung on leather. Boho-chic Pearl Necklace on Leather found in LoveFeast Shop ~ $180 The snow finally fell in Minnesota.  So, I'll be warm … [Read more...]

Family Lifestyle Photography Tips

The truth is I made this photography sitting at the last minute just a few days before this shoot. The photographs from this post are not the finished products, by any means. Between my youngest son and myself we managed to capture some of the "behind the scenes" of our lifestyle photo shoot, while wrangling the dog, searching for the flung pink headband and wading through the knee high grass.  Here are my tips for a Family Lifestyle Photography session that will be enjoyable for your family and will produce some great … [Read more...]

Winter Porch Vignettes

This past week I have been changing over my porch from fall to winter.  Pulling together a front porch vignette for each season is something I love.  I usually choose a main over all color and theme.  This year for my winter porch vignette it was about a certain shade of blue, birch white, evergreen and primitive objects and fabrics. “The power of finding beauty in the humblest things makes home happy and life lovely.” ~ Louisa May Alcott Part of creating a charming and welcoming space is to gather a collection of … [Read more...]

Dinner Idea For Holiday Leftovers

My family has celebrated Thanksgiving twice this week.  We've shared a feast with friends and we've shared a feast with our family.  Traditionally both Kristin's husband, Devon and my husband, Todd cook the turkey dinners in both of our homes.  Most Thanksgivings they consult eachother over the phone about what brine concoction to soak the turkey in or what type of booze they are adding to the gravy.  This year Kristin's husband outdid himself with a beautiful bird.  In case you missed it, you can see the menu including their … [Read more...]

One Day 2012 ~ LoveFeast

One of our best bloggy #IRL friends, Laura ~ The Hollywood Housewife is hosting a blog post link up called One Day 2012.  Her idea is to have you follow your life in pictures through one typical day as a way of documenting life.  She chose a day this week Wednesday, November 15th with the aim to share a typical day.  I took a little creative license on this project.  Here is my take on One Day  ~ in LoveFeast Land. Here is a little know fact.  On mornings when Kristin and I post our coffee and then share it on Instagram we … [Read more...]

Decorating With Pillows

This is my latest pillow purchase.  It's a festive fall-ish whimsical burst of color right off my front door.  (Pier One)  It's sits on my salvaged chair and gather my guests coats and purses.   I love how this pillow complements the burlap coffee sack cushion.  It's making my happy right now, but in a couple of weeks it will be switched out for something that suites the festive coming season.  And, that is the power of the pillow - you can change the mood of a room with one quick switch. The power of decorating with pillows … [Read more...]

Hostess Gift Inspiration – Early Holiday Sale

I can remember one dinner party in particular where Kristin and her husband Devon served a lovely fish dinner.  About 4 couples sat at 8 chairs around the vintage door tables that I loved.  The rubbed worn paint finish under the plate of salmon in the soft candlelight is a memory I still remember.  Everything was soft.  The dim lighting and the happy conversation of friends happy to be gathered at the table.  At each placesetting was a terracotta pot with fresh herbs.  The table was simple and elegant.  At the end of the evening … [Read more...]

How To Create Handmade Painted Bobby Pins

Back in the day when Kristin and I were raising our little people, I was know for whipping up craft projects for my kids.  I was a former middle school art teacher and I always had plenty of feathers, glitter, gem stones, glue and construction paper around.  There were afternoons Kristin would come over with her kids in tow, to find me and my kids at the kitchen table with a confetti burst of collage materials covering the floor all around us.  "How are you going to get this cleaned up!?" she'd gasp!  We have many a story about … [Read more...]
