Glitterizing A Vintage Picture

I promised a glitter project last week ~ do you have your glue bottles ready?  This is a fun DIY Project that will possibly get you back in touch with your inner finger-painting child.  It also a great gift idea or decor idea for the holidays! I was first inspired to do this project when I purchased a "glitterized" vintage picture at an antique store and bakery over the summer.  I found it at "Kathie's Finds" in Wayzata, MN.  I love it so much that I made it the centerpiece of my mantel.  Glitterized Vintage Pictures have a … [Read more...]

Just Because

Just because he loves me, he brought these flowers home. He bought them at Costco and brought them home in their cellophane bundle.  They were beautiful, but I decided to add a little more love to this bouquet of fall splendor.  First I trimmed each stem, at different lengths, building an arrangement of varying heights.  Then I took an empty, large glass jar (I think it once was an over-sized jar of sun dried tomatoes) and placed the freshly trimmed flowers inside.  I took one of my vintage tins that was just a bit bigger … [Read more...]

How To Make Branchlers

A while ago I happened to see a picture of these coasting on the web ~ Branchlers by Luke Bartels found on Remodelista. I've had it on my mind ever since - and seriously, this has nothing to do with the fact that I shot an AK37 or something like that this summer thanks to my brother-n-law who likes to keep this suburban mama country capable. But now back to my Branchler - project 'cause this is how we roll in the citeee!  Note:  There are no guns needed for this project unless you choose to use a paint gun. How To … [Read more...]

Fancy Friday ~ Fabric Inspiration

Well, I could wander around here all day. Many times I have.  There is something about floor to warehouse ceiling stack of bolts and bolts of fabric that calms me.  For awhile ~ until I start buzzing with ideas. While wandering this maze of isles I find inspiration. The inspiration to build ideas, tablecloths, curtains and pillows. The more projects I think of the more I start to giggle.  I'm giddy now, high on ribbons and remnants and linens. There are plans for pillows and streamers. Then I call someone who … [Read more...]

Fancy Friday 4th Of July

4th of July for my family in Colorado is all about letting go and having fun! We say good bye to our suburban Minneapolis neighborhood and embrace the country. We are happy, well fed, relaxed and having fun.  We're celebrating all the things we enjoy ~ our freedom in America. How do you celebrate the 4th … [Read more...]

Taking Your Work Outside

Many of you have heard the expression in decorating, "bring the outside in" to breath life into your home's rooms.  Well, recently I tried the reverse, bring the inside out. The other day (before our recent historical Minneapolis heatwave) the day was mildly warm and sunny.  The kind of day where summer greets you with possibilities.  The flowers in my garden were just starting to show their potential.  The lilacs were wafting lovely scents in the air.  This was no day to be working inside. Much of what … [Read more...]
