Whole Wheat Irish Soda Bread

Ingredients
  • 2 C. whole wheat flour
  • 1½ C. white flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1½ tsp. baking powder
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • ¼ C. sugar
  • 1 Tbs. of cold butter
  • 1¾ C. buttermilk
Instructions
  1. Heat oven to 350 F.
  2. Combine dry ingredients in a bowl.
  3. Cut cold butter into small pieces then cut into the flour mixture.
  4. Add buttermilk and stir to combine
  5. Lightly flour a surface and gently knead to form a round loaf.
  6. Place on a baking sheet.
  7. Cut a large cross in the top of the dough and put in oven for 1 hour.
  8. Let cool for a few minutes before serving. But, this is best eaten fresh!!
