Widman’s! My parents went to UND in Grand Forks and would always talk about Widman’s there and the chippers. I went there as well, and although I didn’t go there very often (such self-control for a college student!) the one or two times a year when we got chippers or mint dreams were always delicious.

I love this. So beautiful all the candies and the love that goes into making them. Our little piece of heaven candy shop is called The Peanut Shop it’s in Holland Mi, it too has been around forever. They also roast nuts….thus the name. The double covered chocolate peanuts are my favorite!

I love this nostalgic trip to the candy store. I love that it’s been around 100 years.

I feel that way about Ghiradelli Square in San Francisco. We’d always go to the chocolate shop when I was growing up and watch the chocolate being made. Then we’d get a hot fudge sundae and still watch the chocolate swirling in the background…sweet times.

Memories like this are so great! I’m so glad you took some pictures to document it.
We lived in Pennsylvania until I was 12. I remember going to Hershey Pennsylvania, riding the theme park rides and going on the free chocolate tour where you got to see how chocolate was made. I loved picking out some candy from the company store at the end (my favorite was the Riese’s Pieces!).

That is super ‘sweet’! After my son saw Candylicious featured on Food Network, we took a trip down to check it out. It did not disappoint! Of course, when my family thinks of candy they will always remember our trips to Kandy Kitchen in Rehoboth, DE. Ahhh, candy. . .

I loved Farrell’s ice cream parlor – it was old fashioned with fancy tablecloths & curtains and huge glass bowls for the sundaes. They had tons of candy, too, and I always felt so special and fancy when I went there. Man I miss that place!

Ohhhh man!! That’s the chocolate covered potato chip place that you took me and Grant to when you got married!! LOVE those…and now make them every Christmas as part of the “fun things in chocolate” gifts!! Candy has always been a part of my memories…the isle in Woolworth when I was really young in PA, then the Ben Franklin that we would stop in after junior high and the Buy Rite we would turn coke bottles in to buy candy in NC, then good old Godiva at the upscale stores as a young adult in Annapolis, and now the Candy Box in Catonsville where we took the boys after games when they were little (now 29 & almost 24!) as a treat and for chocolate and old fashioned treats we send all around the world to make our friends and loved ones feel special and loved with specially picked sweets that you don’t find just anywhere!!
