I agree that those things that remind us of where we’ve been are among the most special.

One of my favorites is a very large print (it sure looked like a real painting when I was a girl) framed in a very large, ornate frame–of a graceful woman in a long, pale blue flowing dress. This picture used to hang in my grandmother’s living room, and I used to stare at it, secretly hoping to be like the graceful woman in the picture someday. It just makes me SMILE that I have this picture hanging in my home now.

I do have a few things though, a renoir that hung in my grandmothers living room since I was a kid and also a pencil drawing that she had done before she had children. They remind me of her and what a great woman she was.

So when you walk around the house, it reminds you of the places we’ve been. I’ve even started framing some of my travel pics, which gives it a whole new dimension.

We also have a serious collection of Patterson Park Pagoda paintings, including two (probably too) big Robert McClintock’s. We got married there, so my dad started off the collection as a wedding gift.
