The first time I came across the Aesop brand, was wandering the skinny streets of Southwark near the Borough Market in London, England.  It was a rainy, bone chilling day, in February, and I saw an interesting sign over a door and sought it out as a shelter.  As I opened the door, I was greeted with softly scented warmth and a cup of tea.  Moments later, after a hand wash at a sink and a warm towel, the shop girl begin to introduce me to the lovely creams and lotions.

If you are looking for some color inspiration in your STYLE – look know further. The color to grab hold of this year is the color of year for 2013 is Pantone 17-5641 TCX , aka – Emerald.  Emerald is a great color.  It’s bold.  It’s sophisticated.  It’s happy.  You can do this color.  Here’s some inspiration below on how to add Emerald to your style.

Emerald is not going to be hard to add to your style story. You can add it in with a couple of signature pops and everyone will think you are in the moment. My suggestion is start with a thing or two.  Enough to have some fun with the color of the year without replacing anything major. A touch here, and accessory there.  Think of it as something to embrace, just now, for the year.  Unless of course your are really going to make the investment – in the real thing. In that case, go for it.  Emeralds are always, classic.

I’ve always shopped at Madewell when I’m in New York City.  I think we may have just gotten on here in Minneapolis.  But, I haven’t yet gone out to explore for it.  I do know that the quality and the price and the design of Madewell pieces are always reasonable and on trend.

This is the bag you wish you had.  Me too.  If you ever wanted to have serious bag envy.  Now is the time.  Kristin’s spring/summer bag is awe-some.  Those are all little beads sewn on in a zig zaggy chevron stripe ~ it feels delicious.  I know this because I borrow it from Kristin just to drape over my arm, like once.

One of the good things about being BFFs that live approximately 5 states apart (can someone check if that is an accurate statement, homeschoolers, geography someone?) is that you can buy the same bag and you don’t look like dorks.

But here is a question for you ~ if a bag was this delicious would you buy it together with your BFF  and then be IRL Bag BFFs?

This post will guarantee you one guilt free spring makeup shopping trip.  If you have a daughter to take, you will get brownie points for teaching her the fine art of being a woman.  It will actually eradicate any money you spent at Sephora under your beauty budget.  It can now be filed from beauty expenses into education expenses.  This is true fact.  I asked David Ramsey.

I know now that I’ve hit 40ish I need an extra set of eyes.  (We’ll talk about my completely awesome green readers later.)  I used what is the equivalent of a seeing eye dog for the blind- -the Sephora Guy with more colors of the rainbow on his eyes than a Las Vegas show girl – and expertly done.  He could obviously be trusted.

“We” decided to go with Bare Minerals as a foundation.  I was working on an “everyday” look.  (Don’t be mistaken I have a wild flashy and if I dare say foxy look for my wildly crazy evening night life that involves loads of glitter and false eye lashes.  You think I’m talking smack here?  It’s totally true.  Suburban Mom by day ~ wild lady by night.)

But for day ~ Bare Minerals.  It says in a jar, well-rested.  That alone worth all the money in the world.

Actually, before the foundation ~ the secret weapon.  Concealer.  It will never, never tell your secrets.  Ever.  And, I have never ever seen anybody look bad in anything from Laura Mercier.  Nothing says your worthy like fairly expensive, good concealer.  Love yourself.  You deserve it.

This is the blush the Sephora Guy told me was “gorgeous”.  He said and I quote, ” You will look amah~zing in Luvitate!”  And then he waved his brush to the heavens to punctuate that fact.  And, I couldn’t argue with that.

Lips.  I wanted spring, I wanted fashion forward.  I wanted slight neon violet-pink that said the “new-80’s”.  Something reminiscent to a color from my middle school days called “Cottoncandy” but for the millinium.  Neon being the thing for spring, I was looking for was my new midlife “Cottoncandy”.

This next one I picked on my own.  Eye liner to, ahem, match my nails.  When I showed the Sephora Guy he crooned, “Did you just pick that yourself?”  And, then added in voice that sounded like angels and Oprah, “That will be fabbbb-u-louuuuss!” And, then he threw it in my basket.

This completed my new spring face look.  I left out Mascara.  Because I was tired.  And, the mall was closing.  (I have been tending to use Loreal Voluminous, though, it’s my go-to.)
