My husband and I have been working for 30 days straight on our crazy remodel (more on that later). We needed an excuse to take a break from the work wheel. An invite to Chicken Nuggets of Wisdom‘s Cookie Exchange was timely and the excuse we needed!
After making the Dulce de Leche Bacon, Coconut, Chocolate Chip Magic Bars, I wrapped them up and headed to the party with my family in tow! We were warmly greeted by Laura’s daughter and placed our mitten donations in the basket. Laura was donating gloves to a local shelter. Our coats were taken and we were ushered into “The Cookie Table”! It was already loaded with cookies! A number of guests helped us make room for our over sized plate of Magic Bars.
Once we walked into the kitchen, it didn’t take long to recognize a few familiar faces! Jennifer from Hip As I Wanna Be and Cara from Land of Bean were introduced to my tribe.
Laura was a gracious host and quickly introduced us to those we’ve never met before. In the midst of the introductions, Laura said, I’d love for you too meet Adryon from Adryon’s Kitchen. I was excited to meet her in real life as she is going to be our spotlight newbie blogger at our BlogLove Event in January! Within minutes, she said, “Did you use to own a coffee shop in Ellicott City?” “Yes”, I responded. She said, “I worked for you and Devon. I was an employee. You hired me when I was a teenager.” Her name, her face, tumbled through my brain…”Yes! I remember you!” Devon chimed in, “I knew you were familiar!”
It’s a small world.
I spent the rest of the night getting to know a few other bloggers! Mary from Pajamas and Coffee, Amy from Social Pollen, Stephanie from Dial M for Minky and Ri from Music Savvy Mom.
We talked about everything from kids and Call of Duty to Green Day and eating 46 tacos for a photo shoot (that was Stephanie’s husband!) I really enjoyed having a relaxed setting to get to know these bloggers in a more personal way! Plus, the cookies were delicious, as was the spread that Laura prepared!
Thank you Laura and family for helping my family kick off the holiday with a festive time!
