Bombing is “is the act of throwing up a large piece of graffiti“. Michael Owen is literally Love Bombing all over Baltimore. He has initiated a mural project called Baltimore Love Project.
“This project is not intended to change the world. However, we know that these murals have the power to inspire change, if just through small, tangible acts of love from one to another. We hope a man is moved to pick up flowers for his girlfriend or a mother reconsiders hitting her child for a night. In order to assist in these expressions, the Baltimore Love Project remains an open-ended project, where we will look to individuals and communities for their responses.” ~Michael Owen
LoveFeast Table bombs with food…Micheal Owens bombs with paint.
Michael was also commissioned to paint the largest mural in Baltimore, it’s a 1/4 of a mile stretch on Eastern Ave. It reflects life in and around that area. My daughter and I got out and walked the stretch. I love when art engages those who are willing to participate.
Art can move us…
create conversation…
even make us want to dance.
Tea Pot and I enjoyed getting out and seeing the mural up close. Have you ever pulled over the side of the road to see a mural up close? If not, you should! You get a new perspective!
This mural was done by artist Joel Bergner. He captures the waves of immigrants that poured into Baltimore and the diversity of our city.
This mural draws you in.
This mural is in Fells Point, Baltimore. Fells Point sits on the water and you can watch the boats come and go in our harbor. This mural depicts the vibrant life of the Inner Harbor.
Fancy Fridays are all about things around you that inspire! I drive through the city every day. Life in my suburban can become a bit monotonous. The murals I pass really do lift my spirit and get my mind creating. The murals became even fancier when I got out and walked up to them. Try it with your murals. Then come back and let us know what you think!
*If you live in Baltimore and want to see Michael Owen’s work up close and personal, he has a closing reception for his solo show Maps and Memories this Sunday, June 6 at 1pm.
