Lingering Before Returning

may090791

Today is the end of an era.  Today, I sent my little-est flower into the world of all day kindergarten. To bloom and grow... So, for the first time in fifteen years I am going to have something I haven't had in a while - time.  Now, that the kids will be back in school, we will again be able to focus on our business here at LoveFeast Table.   Kristin and I discussed this in detail this past summer...during one of our high powered meetings. Of course, we will still have our hands full with chauffeuring, … [Read more...]

Tomato & Toast Breakfast

Tomato Breakfast

Yum right?  This yummy picture says it all.  Pretend you're sitting down to eat this right now.  We toasted the hearty bread, melted some fine cheese, sliced a fresh tomato from the farmers market and plucked a leafy green off our basil plant out on the deck.  Just for you our guest!  We are enjoying the pleasure of you enjoying it!  That's sorta what's happening with this blog right now.  While you linger over this picture, we are busy cooking up stuff in our kitchens and in our heads to serve you better at this place we … [Read more...]

Where It All Started…Golden West Cafe

brekhus-visit-june-2009-319

It was about a year ago.  Chris Ann was in Baltimore for a visit.  She had just come out of a dreary Minnesota winter.  I planned a day of "art-inspiration-creativity-fun stops and shops"!  We went to ArHaus and were quickly inspired by the vignettes and even had a great conversation with the artist/installer there.  I saw Chris Ann take a deep, refreshing breath...she even smiled!  We then went to Clipper Mill to scope out the artists and Woodberry Kitchen.  We walked around and watched glass artists, iron artists and had … [Read more...]

Rehearsal Dinner, LoveFeast Style

Rehearsal Dinner/ Thayna Alves

The night after all the good eats with the boys and girls, the entire wedding party descended on our home for a "Rehearsal Dinner" (there really was no rehearsal, but it sounded like an appropriate name) cooked up by Devon. I made oven roasted cherry tomatoes earlier in the week as preparation for the special evening.  Devon had it in his mind to prepare an oven roasted tomato, artichoke and exotic mushroom risotto served on a bed of baby arugula.  Oh my goodness!  Really, I don't know if words can begin to describe what … [Read more...]

Love Feast Fest!

cutting-cake

I'm sitting here sipping my steamy hot Americano and nibbling (against my better judgment) on a Baked brownie.  It is the first time in over a week I've had a chance to blog.  I have to tell you, my mind is so full!  There is so much to share and so many stories to write about.  You see, this past week, my husband and I decided to let our lives be interrupted by an entire wedding party! For three years, we had a young man named Marc live in our home and he became a big brother to our kids.  He was the boyfriend of (now … [Read more...]

No Coffee Blues And Blogging

Mad No Coffee Morning

Ok, so the morning starts like this.  I wake up and the bus will be here in like 15 minutes and none of the tweens, hidden under their covers have breathed a breath of fresh air yet.  I go down stairs in my plum colored cashmere robe, that I got for a steal let me tell you, and is suppose to make me feel glamorous in the morning and is not, and began to make my coffee.  I fill the pot at the tiny stream from my fridge, because I am convinced that my city water is trying to kill me.  This tiny stream irritates me every … [Read more...]

The Cove

Picture of the Cove Restaurant Outside

Sometimes you just want to eat a burger. Eating a burger at The Cove, is like eating at your older brother’s apartment; your older brother that was into records, fishing, hunting, and skateboarding. The Cove has a relaxed hang-out type vibe where you can be comfortable, kickback, and hang with some friends. That is what “Good Vibe Ambassadors” and brothers, Bruce and Brock Larson, are trying to do with their burger joint. The menu is simple and inexpensive pub food. The hamburgers and hot dogs are served in basket with good … [Read more...]

Baked-Up From Baked

Cookies from Kim

My sister-n-law, Kim, who I think will forgive me for sneaking a look into the cookbook Baked: New Frontiers in Baking, that gave I her as a gift, has read the cookbook cover to cover.  She also has agreed to submit to a lie detector test has agreed to an interview.  Kim is in the beginning stages of launching her own baking company.  Let's see where she gets her inspiration! What is your favorite food memory? Um, learning to make chocolate chip cookies in 4-H.  We had to measure all the ingredients into butter dishes.  … [Read more...]

This is how we chill it, Minnesota style--out in a snowbank in sub degree temps!!  We are having a cozy New Year's, in this year.  We are thinking about our friends far and wide, friends that we have rung in many a more festive New Years with...but, we are content and cozy in our home awaiting our crack into this very nice sparkling wine.  Kristin & Devon are celebrating in their home with a couple of our other dear friends and at some point we will ching our glasses to the receiver of the telephone like we have for quite … [Read more...]

Jamie Oliver and other British Wonders

Jamie Oliver

My brother married a wonderful English lass!  She's creative, beautiful and in touch with our slight obsession for all things food.  Every year, we exchange names amongst the siblings and their spouses.  This year my brother had my name.  But, as my (newly added) sister in law discovered, it is still the wife's job to round out the gifts (and sign all the Christmas cards!).  So, I opened a beautiful scarf from Scotland that my brother had chosen all by himself.  He really nailed it!  It's gorgeous!  The next two gifts … [Read more...]
