Fancy Friday Antiques

Fancy Friday Antiques is here!  It's time to share our well worn treasures!!  Many of us like antiques and vintage things because something old often has a story that goes with it.   Something old has been loved, worn, survived, and aged with a patina that shows it has lived a well used life.  These are some of my aged and well-loved things in my home and some of their stories. This picture is of my husband's Great Grandfather.  He was a missionary and a minister.  This picture is dated:  New York 1905.  It is often a … [Read more...]

LoveBomb Gets Dropped on Facebook

We are on a mission to start a LoveBomb-ing revolution!  What is a LoveBomb? It is the act of preparing, serving and sharing a meal or a morsel with someone you normally wouldn't. It could be a cookie to a local librarian, or a five course meal for teen age boys!  It could be bacon cheeseburgers for a bunch of skaters or muffins with moms who are trying to get back on their feet. LoveBomb-ing is about stepping out of your comfort zone and coming to the Table to listen to others stories.  It doesn't matter how old you are,  if … [Read more...]

Grilled Lettuce After The Long Trail

There are some things that would be fairly difficult for our suburban family to experience if were not for the fact that my husband's sister and husband and their kids, live in Colorado.  My husband and I, together with our kids get to experience and see some things that are pretty amazing thanks to them.  The picture above is all 10 of us four wheeling on the Grand Mesa.  The trail was fairly rugged, over boulders, small rivers and rocks, and up and down hill.  We all lived.  Nobody fell off a cliff.  That's why it's so dang, … [Read more...]

Trip to American Girl Doll Cafe NYC

My daughter, Teapot and her bff, Anni, wanted desperately to celebrate their birthdays at the American Girl Place in New York City.  We decided to do the day up!  So, bff's mom, made reservations to the American Girl Cafe and we invited the grandmoms! We arrived at seating time and waited behind the ropes with a couple dozen giddy and excited girls!  The tension was rising!  As we were escorted into the American Girl Cafe, it was like walking into a life size doll house restaurant.  There were American Girl Dolls lined up … [Read more...]

Fancy Friday Be Yourself

"The simplest questions are the most profound.  Where were you born?  Where is your home? Where are you going?  What are you doing?  Think about these once in awhile and watch your answers change."  ~Richard Bach Where we love is home-home that our feet may leave, but not our hearts." ~Oliver Wendell Homes Maya Angelou~ "I long, as does every human being, to be at home wherever I find myself." "Close your eyes and tap your heels together three times.  And, think to yourself, there's no place like … [Read more...]

Prairie Dogs & French Crepes

Shooting prairie dogs and eating French Crepes for breakfast is not typically the way we roll in suburbia.  Well the French Crepes part, probably.  But shooting prairie dogs before breakfast?  Only on our Colorado vacation. Once a year my family takes a road trip in the minivan to visit my husband's sister and family.  We leave our home in the suburbs of Minneapolis, my husband leaves behind his corporate job and our kids their video games, soccer and friends.  As we wind down the road we let go of the city life, catch up, and … [Read more...]
